Sequoia Capital is a venture capital firm founded by Don Valentine in 1972. The firm's partners include Don Valentine, Pierre Lamond, Michael Moritz, Doug Leone, Mike Goguen, Mark Stevens, Jim Goetz, Sameer Gandhi, Roelof Botha, and Mark Kvamme. Jason Calacanis has had, as of 5 December, 2005, a position as an EIA (Entrepreneur in Action) at Sequoia.

Sequoia provided venture capital for AMCC, Aricent, Aruba, Asia Media, Atom Entertainment, Documentum, Electronic Arts, eLoan, FirstSource, Flextronics, Idea Cellular, Isilon, Google, Meebo, Paypal, LinkedIn, LSI Logic, Mellanox, Microchip, Netezza, NetScreen, Network Appliance, nVidia, PixelWorks, PMC Sierra, Royal Orchid Hotels, SourceFire, Yahoo!, YouTube, and was one of the first investors in Cisco Systems, Oracle and Apple. Around 10% of the value of NASDAQ is made up of firms funded by Sequoia.[1]Sequoia invests in the U.S., China, India, Israel.

Sequoia profited well when Google agreed to buy YouTube for $1.65B. It is believed that Sequoia's $11M investment translated to 30% of the ownership.
