MyHeritage is a family-oriented social network service that allows users to create an online family tree, share pictures, organize family events, and search for ancestors online. MyHeritage is also known for its face recognition algorithm used to scan a person’s uploaded photo and match them to various celebrities in the MyHeritage celebrity database.

MyHeritage was founded in 2003 and is located in the village of Bnei Atarot (near Tel Aviv). In 2007, the site had 17.2 million subscribers and a database of 150,000 family trees with 180 million people profiles. MyHeritage has raised 9 million US dollars in funding, about half of which is from venture capital firm Accel.
