About Jai Menon
Jaishankar Menon (Kerala, India, August 9, 1956) is an IBM employee who contributed to RAID technology.
Read MoreMenon received a degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in 1977, he earned an M.S. and a Ph.D. in computer science at the Ohio State University.
In 1982, he joined IBM's research team in San Jose, California, where he developed RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) technology. He has written 23 RAID papers and holds 27 RAID patents. Jai went on to become responsible for all world-wide Research in storage systems in IBMdate=September 2007. He initiated the IBM SAN Volume Controller. He co-authored a paper on the design and architecture of cached disk controllers, now used routinely in every disk controller in the industrydate=September 2007.
He holds 50 U.S Patents. In 2001, Jai was named an IBM Fellow, and is a member of IBM's Academy of Technology.
