Airtel has tested 3G applications with various equipment suppliers in Delhi, Mumbai and Banglore on trial spectrum says ET. Airtel currently runs a 3G service in Seychelles and has a license to run 3G in Guernsey and SriLanka. We had earlier reported spectrum allocation being delayed to 2008 year end as Defense had still not vacated the 45Mhz required to start off. The DoT has decided to auction spectrum but I doubt all operators have been allocated spectrum to conduct trials.
